One of the world’s most populated, media hungry countries, China, banned Beyonce, Kanye West and Katy Perry songs. You didn’t know they could do that huh?

Yes, that is correct, their music is not allowed. According to RTE.ie, Beyonce’s song “Run the World” is one of a hundred songs banned by the Chinese Ministry of Culture on Friday.

Others include Katy Perry’s “E.T.” featuring Kanye West, as well as Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory,” “Hair,” and several others. Her song, “Born This Way” was banned on a previous list.

You may be wondering what the big deal is, noting some of the content isn’t necessarily offensive. The Chinese Ministry says the bans are not related to the content, but is all about the clamp down on Internet music providers who are providing access to songs not submitted to the government for review or censorship.
