Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston needs pet food for their meals on wheels program. That’s right, the stuff you feed to dogs and cats. But wait: Meals on Wheels are for seniors in the Houston are who might not otherwise get daily meals, right? Communications manager Andrea Fineman explained the need.

“We found that our meals on wheels seniors who homebound were sharing their limited food and resources with their pets,” Fineman said. “That’s not good for the pet and its not good for the senior. So we collect donated pet food and deliver that to our seniors once a month.”

So just how severe is this need?

“We’re talking about 900 pets. Thats about 7,000 pounds of dog and cat food that goes out each month,” Fineman added. “So we”re pretty low right now and we could use the community’s help to come out and donate pet food.”

Do you want to help? Bring your donations to Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston at 3217 Montrose this weekend.

“We are looking for both dog and cat, both wet and dry. Every little bit helps,” Fineman said. “You can deliver it Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.”

If you can’t make it to donate in person, Interfaith Ministries will purchase products on our behalf. For about $180, you can feed a pet for an entire year. To donate online, go to https://www.imgh.org/donate.
