NEWS92FM.com – Thursday morning, repair crews hurried and scrambled to restore power after more than 14,000 customers lost electricity, mostly in areas north of Houston.

Torrential rain and powerful thunderstorms rumbled and worked their way through the Houston area early Thursday morning.

According to CenterPoint Energy, the storms knocked out power to about 14,632 customers as of about 7:15 a.m., Thursday morning. Customers reported power outages all morning long.

Some of the hardest hit spots were near Jersey Village, neighborhoods in southwest Houston and in Kingwood.

Areas in the The Woodlands also lost power earlier Thursday but reports indicated that the power there was quickly restored.
