A man who tried to save his fiancé and daughter from a northeast Harris County house fire Thursday morning has died from his injuries.

Twenty-five Javier Martinez along with the other two victims 25-year-old Liliana Perales and six-year-old Allesandra Martinez were at their home in the 4700 block of Cicada Lane when the fire started around midnight Thursday.

Martinez was downstairs and his fiancé and daughter were upstairs at the time. A neighbor who lived across the street from the family spotted the flames and broke into the living room, pulling the father out.

Once outside, Javier Martinez realized his family was still in the burning home and rushed to locate and rescue them from the flames. Although eyewitnesses said that Martinez attempted to do everything in his power to save his family, he was not able to do so. Both his daughter and fiancé perished in the fire.

Javier Martinez was rushed to the hospital and treated for injuries and burns that were all over his body; he later died Thursday afternoon from his injuries.

Additional reports indicate that Martinez and his family had just moved into the house two weeks ago.

Although investigators said there was nothing suspicious about the fire, the cause was still under investigation late Thursday.
