The Rodriguez family is finally home and they couldn’t be happier.

Their new house in Kingwood comes courtesy of Operation Homefront.  Teamed up with Chase Bank, Homes on the Homefront helps military veterans find affordable homes.

Basically they live mortgage free up to two years as they become more financially stable to assume full payments on their own.

It’s the organization’s way of giving back to America’s freedom fighters.  ”I get to play Oprah,” said Senior Case Manager Paula Pettibone. ” It’s a lot of tears or screams or silence. They’re just shocked. “

Marine Ryan Rodriguez said it helps vets get a new lease on life after service.

“This is something that would have taken another 30 years to begin the process.  Thus gives me a chance to take care of my family and soon re-enter the workforce.”

Rodriguez was injured twice while serving in Iraq in 2007.

His wife, Rosa, said having a home is a dream come true. “I’m really happy,” she said. “I didn’t know we were going to get the house. They just surprised us.”

This is the third home in Houston set up through Operation Homefront.net.
