Dozens of protestors from Harris County line the sidewalk in front of BP calling for justice. The latest settlement proposal leaves Harris County out, and many of these small business owners fear they won’t be able to file claims for lost business.

Kirn Shaw estimates his hotel lost 50 percent of its business for two years. “We didn’t break even for two years so we opened our wallets,” Shaw said.

Rozy Patel owns several hotels in Kemah and Bacliff that depend on tourism. But the perception that oil covered the beaches forced her family to let employees go.

The settlement proposal will head to a fairness hearing in November. These protestors hope there will be something there to make them whole.
