With Hurricane Isaac now ashore in Louisiana and with 20 inches of rain expected over the next several days, crews with CenterPoint here in Houston made preparations to head to the worst hit areas to help with repairs and power restoration.

With a huge part of hurricane aftermath being power outages, hundreds of thousands of people in Louisiana are reportedly without power; CenterPoint has volunteered to send crews to help with restoration efforts.

Approximately 80 CenterPoint Energy lineman and support personnel are slated to leave for Louisiana later Wednesday; the request for assistance is coming from Entergy Louisiana.

During Hurricane Ike, those assistance efforts were reciprocated as 11,000 outside resources came to the Houston and surrounding areas to help restore power in the Houston area.
