The NFL Network is reporting that Houston Texans running back Arian Foster may undergo a heart procedure in about a month to relieve the irregular heartbeat he’s experienced for years.
Foster told the NFL Network’s Alex Flanagan he will “likely undergo” a heart ablation. He’s had an irregular hearbeat since he was a child. It causes him shortness of breath.
Foster, who is 26, was forced out of the Minnesota game this season. He was cleared to return against the Vikings, but coach Gary Kubiak kept him out as a precaution.
A heart ablation is a surgical procedure intended to correct abnormal heart rhythms when medicine fails. It involves catheter tubes being used to correct “structural heart problems that prevent normal heart rhythms. Malfunctioning heart tissue is scarred or destroyed.”
