Former South African President Nelson Mandela was placed on life support late Wednesday in a Pretoria hospital, CNN reports. The 94-year-old anti-apartheid leader has been in the hospital since June 8 for a “recurring lung infection.”

President Jacob Zuma said earlier his condition remains unchanged, according to the report.
In a statement issued late Tuesday, the government said Mandela’s doctors “continue to do their best to ensure his recovery, well-being and comfort.”
