Beyoncé is now a course of study at Rutgers University. According to E! News,

The course is a part of the school’s Department of Women’s and Gender Studies. The Rutgers Today newspaper has revealed that “Queen Bey 101” is taught by PhD candidate Kevin Allred.

In the newspaper, Allred said, “This isn’t a course about Beyonce’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama‘s inauguration weekend. Rather, the performer’s music and career are used as lenses to explore American race, gender and sexual politics.”

The site has reported that the course’s lessons will be paired with Bey’s music videos and lyrics. It will also contain writing from artists and pioneers of the black feminist moment.

Bey’s husband, JAY Z, has a course at Georgetown University called, “The Sociology of Hip-Hop: JAY Z.”
