Singer/Songwriter, Bel-Ami is kicking the new year off with his debut single “(U Do) That Thing”. “(U Do) That Thing” mixes traditional gospel and soul, and infuses the sound of contemporary R&B which creates a soulful single. This soulful fan favorite instantly captures the attention of the audience when performed live. After years of performing Bel-Ami finally decided to give the fans what they wanted, a recorded version of the song “(U Do) That Thing.
Recently listed as having one of the best albums (EP-Know U) from a Houston artist in 2013 from the Houston Chronicle, Bel-Ami decided to take a different approach for the single. “The song is different from the songs on the album because it has more of a classic soul feel”, says Bel-Ami. With it’s classic soul elements the sound is reminiscent of early D’Angelo mixed with Stevie Wonder and Sly and the Family Stone. The single was recorded at the historic SugarHill Recording Studios and Bel-Ami had the opportunity to work with industry professionals such as Josh Applebee and Chris Longwood. “I want the listener to remember the feeling[s] they get whenever they see the person that does it for them”, explains Bel-Ami.
