(HOUSTON) — A man was shot early Wednesday while answering his front door.
Police say a group of men returned to their home on Leeland at Bastrop near downtown Houston shortly before 3:30 a.m., and then someone knocked on the door.

Thinking it was a friend, the victim opened the door and was shot one time. He was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition.
The gunman, described only as a black male, left and is still on the loose. Police aren’t sure what the motive was. They said nothing was stolen.
