(HOUSTON) — Numerous women who visit the Bellaire Blvd., area of China Town are becoming the victim’s of strong arm robberies.

They’re being followed home by men who pull in behind them in the driveway. Then they smash out a window, steal their purses and take off.

 

NEWS 92 FM’s Dennis Spellman reports:

Bob Haenel of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office says many of the victims are Asian.

“Similarities between each one of these crimes is so close that we believe its is the same group,” Haenel said.

Many of the victims live along the Fort Bend-Harris County line. They also live in Sugar Land and Missouri City.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward.

 

Earlier:

Three men are wanted in a string of strong-arm robberies targeting Asian females in Fort Bend County.

The suspects will follow Asian female drivers from the Bellaire/Beltway 8 area of Houston into Fort Bend County and wait until the victim pulls into their driveway. That is when one suspect smashes the victim’s window, swiping their purse while the victim is still in the car.

So far, deputies said there have been five reported crimes like this — one in Stafford, one in Sugar Land and three in unincorporated Fort Bend County.

One suspect is described as a black male, 16-20 years old and about 6 feet tall. The second suspect is a heavy-set black male, standing at 5 feet, 11 inches tall. The third suspect is a black male with no further description.

Vehicles used in the robberies include a silver or gray Nissan Rouge, possibly an older-model Toyota Camry, a blue Dodge, a black four-door car, a white four-door car and a tan SUV.

A $5,000 reward will be paid for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved. All calls are anonymous.
