Ofc. Ramon Morales (Richmond Police Department)

(RICHMOND, TX) — A Richmond Police Department rookie and U.S. Marine Corps veteran saved a woman’s life by pulling her from the path of an oncoming train, and it was all caught on camera.

The heroic rescue happened around 1 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Douglas.

According to police, Ofc. Ramon Morales answered a call about a woman sitting on the railroad tracks.

Morales arrived just as the crossing arms were going down. He grabbed the woman and pulled her from the tracks, seconds before the train came through.

The woman’s hysterical cries can be heard over the sound of the train rushing by.

The woman was transported to Oak Bend Hospital for assessment. No injuries were reported.

Morales has only been with RPD for 10 months.
