Amid protests going on all over the country after the recent grand jury non-indictments of police officers in the deaths of Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York, Houstonians have joined in to express support. Yesterday, students on the campus of TSU displayed an act of solidarity by “dying in”, a term used to describe the pictures you may see on the Internet where people are laying down in their protests much like the “sit in” protest of the ’60s.

Houstonians also gathered to peacefully protest in the Galleria area this afternoon. Many Americans have mixed feelings about these recent events but as Americans it is a good thing that we have the right of free speech and the right to protest.
