I’ve always thought that showering everyday does more damage to your skin then helping.  It seems as though I was right, according to this article on Buzzfeed,

How often do you shower? Dermatologist Dr. Ranella Hrisch says, “We overbathe in this country and that’s really important to realize. A lot of the reason we do it is because of societal norms.” We can thank advertising for those norms. Katherine Ashenburg, author of The Dirt on Clean: An Unsanitized History explains the ads equated body soap with beauty, and Americans fell for it. However, Hirsch points out that showering too often can dry out and irritate the skin, wash away the good bacteria on your skin, and make small cracks, leaving you at higher risk for infection. Really, we should be taking a shower every two to three days, but it also depends on your activity level and climate. However, this doesn’t mean you should skip changing your under garments daily– one study found we shed way more dirt and oil in our clothing than we do in the shower.

So, every other day is just fine to shower or bathe.
