People steal many things – money, cars, food… Now you can add BREAST IMPLANTS to the list!

KPRC reports that 5 Houston Men stole photo ID’s to buy cars and breast implants. Police said in addition to the cars, the suspects bought 12 luxury cars for a total of $485,136 plus used other people’s IDs to get lines of credit so they could get breast implants for themselves.

Identity theft is a touchy topic for me, being a victim of I.T. twice in the last 3 years. I’ve always wondered HOW are criminals able to steal people’s identities? How do they get access??

Police said these men got other people’s information from apartment leasing records. Police said when two of the men were looking to lease an apartment at a complex on Old Farm Road near Westheimer, they noticed a storage facility on the property that had several boxes of old leasing records.

“After they toured the property and left, they came back later, broke into the storage facility and took all the boxes of leasing records,” said Harding.

Police said they were able to recover most of the property so that no one else suffers from identity theft. Although there’s always another clever way for crime, we truly hope that ALL apartment complexes look into “Shredding” versus storing documents at a storage facility in the future.
