Entertainment news has been abuzz last week with comments by Empire creator Lee Daniels saying that actress Mo’Nique has been blackballed in Hollywood. She recently did an interview with Inside Edition stating that she was offered the roll of Cookie on Empire but was told by Daniels that the powers that be think she is difficult to work with. Since Mo’Nique won an Oscar for her role in Precious, she hasn’t been seen much, whereas most actors’ careers take off after winning the award. Amid the rift between these two friends, Mo’Nique is set to release the independent film Blackbird and star opposite Queen Latifah in the HBO drama Bessie, the story of blues singer Bessie Smith.
