Congratulations to Ivy Taylor, appointed interim mayor San Antonio, Texas last summer, beat former state Sen. Leticia Van De Putte in a hotly contested runoff election Saturday, according to sources. Taylor a Yale-educated urban planning professor, whose strong Christian faith appealed to evangelicals, won with an unlikely coalition of the city’s two largest minority voting groups, Blacks and generally conservative White voters, the latter making up just 26 percent of the 1.4 million population, reports the new site.
