Bloomingdale’s apologized yesterday (November 11th) for an ad inside its new holiday catalog that shows a man gazing at a laughing woman who’s looking away from him with the caption: “Spike your best friend’s eggnog when they’re not looking.”

Critics complained online about the ad, suggesting it was promoting date rape.

Bloomingdale apologized on Facebook Wednesday, writing,

“In reflection of recent feedback, the copy we use in our recent catalog was inappropriate and in poor taste. Bloomingdale’s sincerely apologizes for this error in judgement.”

However, some critics said that wasn’t enough, and suggested that the retailer donate to sexual assault and domestic violence survivor charities.

Gots to be mo careful.
