In the wintertime, it can take a lot of effort to drag your butt out of bed in the morning and get to work on time.

But if you’re trying to impress your boss, you’ll want to stop hitting snooze.  According to Business Insider,

University of Washington researchers recruited 149 pairs of supervisors and employees, and asked all employees when they typically arrived to work. Supervisors rated their employee’s conscientiousness and job performance, and were asked about their own early-bird or night-owl tendencies. Sure enough, employees who typically arrived earlier were rated more conscientious and received higher performance ratings than those who started their workday later. And the more the bosses preferred to wake up early, the more biased they were toward employees that arrived to work late. The study adds to a growing body of research on the effect of using flexible work arrangements, and researchers write, “Organizations may be inadvertently punishing employees who use flextime to start and finish working later in the day.”

You wanna make that impression, get that butt to work early!
