Christmas time is here! And that means hot cocoa, Louis Armstrong tracks, and ugly sweater parties are on deck. It also means spending a lot of time with family and friends. And rather than talk about politics and all the family drama from the year, you could put that time to much better use and watch Christmas movies instead. Here are our favorite Christmas movies for every Christmas situation you might be in:

A movie the whole family can watch: This Christmas. This Christmas is all about music and family and repairing lost relationships. With a star-studded cast, this movie will remind you that there’s nothing more important than family.

A movie for any time you need a pick me up: Trading Places. Widely considered one of the roles that certified Eddie Murphy as one of America’s great funny men, Trading Places is sure to have your sides hurting from all the laughter.

A movie for the kids: A Charlie Brown Christmas. This is arguably one of the best Christmas movies of all time and every child in every generation should see it!

A movie for when you feel lonely during the Holidays: The Perfect Holiday. This feel-good tale reminds you to always be hopeful for a Christmas miracle, and to keep searching for “your people” – romantic and otherwise.

A single girl’s Christmas movie: A Diva’s Christmas Carol. Starring Vanessa Williams and based off the Charles Dickens classic, this movie is about a mean pop star who learns a few lessons to soften her heart.

A guy’s guy Christmas movie: The Best Man Holiday. If you’re around a bunch of guys and they complain about rom-coms or chick-flicks, throw this on. This is the perfect movie for some good old-fashioned bromance.

A silly movie: A Madea Christmas. Yes, it’s a Madea movie but sometimes you just need a little silliness in your life, and as Tyler Perry always does, Madea is there to give you just that.

A movie about consumerism to remind you what really matters: Jingle All The Way. A great movie for re-thinking just how important present should and should not be during this time of year.

A movie for all the woke folks: Black Nativity. Thanks to the all-Black cast in this movie, you can watch the re-telling of the Christmas story feeling all the feels of representation. Joy to the world indeed.

A movie to inspire you in love and life: Last Holiday. Nothing reminds you not to take things for granted than feeling like you have limited time. (You do, even if you forget.) Besides that, you get to see LL Cool J and his lip lick on-screen from time to time – not too shabby.
