There’s disappointing news for Janet Jackson fans. She’s had to postpone her highly anticipated Unbreakable Tour until the spring of 2016 due to an undisclosed illness and the need for surgery. It hasn’t been revealed if the surgery is related to the illness. This hasn’t been the only setback faced by Janet. During the rehearsal process before the tour, she took a break to visit her father Joe, who had a stroke while in Brazil and just a few months after the tour kicked off, doctors put her on vocal rest, forcing her to reschedule several shows.

On Christmas Eve Janet posted this message via social media:

“I need you to know, I learned today from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,” wrote Janet. “It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring.”

She didn’t say specifically if the surgery was related to her earlier vocal rest, but did ask her fans to “please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time.” Rescheduled dates have not yet been announced however, she assured fans that purchased tickets will be honored whenever they are with some sort of added bonus. She was scheduled to perform in Houston on January 23, 2016 at the Toyota Center.
