Gladys Knight’s Signature Chicken & Waffles, a hotspot in the midtown area of Atlanta, is in hot water after failing a health inspection. According to inspectors, there were 15 violations discovered in the eatery, which included debris found on ceilings and vents, a cooler with a missing door, and violations surrounding hand-washing. Fulton County inspectors gave the restaurant a score of 56. Many restaurant-goers were shocked by the news. Since the restaurant has gained popularity, there are usually lines to get in. “Oh wow…a 56? 85 is bad to me,” said one of its customers. Last April, Gladys Knight’s restaurant received a score of 94 from health inspectors. The Fulton County Health Department will return in a few days for a re-inspection. Read more.
‘Black-ish’ Tackles Police Brutality
ABC’s hit television show black-ish is known for its comedy, but a recent episode took more of a serious tone while addressing police brutality. The last episode, which aired on Wednesday, was focused on the Johnson family trying to figure out whether it would be a good idea to discuss police brutality with their children. One scene shows the family gathered in their living room, watching a case about an unarmed Los Angeles teenager who was attacked by an officer unfold. Although Tracee Ellis Ross’ character wants to protect the kids from the harsh realities associated with police brutality, Anthony Anderson’s character believes otherwise. One of the most poignant parts of the episode, titled “Hope,” was Anderson’s monologue. “Obama ran on hope. Remember when he got elected? And we felt like maybe, just maybe, we got out of that bad place and made it to a good place,” he said. “And we saw him, get out of that limo, and walk alongside of it, and wave to that crowd. Tell me you weren’t terrified when you saw that. Tell me you weren’t worried that someone was gonna snatch that hope away from us like they always do. That is the real world, ‘Bow. And our children need to know that that’s the world they live in.” Read more.

The View co-host Raven-Symoné is known for her controversial views and outlandish comments. During a recent episode, she said she will move to Canada with her family if a Republican gets nominated for president. “My confession for this election is if any Republican gets nominated, I’m gonna move to Canada with my entire family,” said Symoné on Thursday’s show. “Is that bad? I already have my ticket. I literally bought my ticket, I swear.” This isn’t the first time her comments on the show have been under scrutiny. Last October, after she made remarks about not hiring someone with a “ghetto” name, there was a petition launched to have her removed from the program. Read more.
