Netflix debuted its Beatles-centric kids show, and now they’ve announced that it is working on an original animated series for kids based on the Jobete catalog of Motown hits, which produced work with Marvin Gaye, the Jackson 5, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, the Supremes, the Temptations and Stevie Wonder.
Smokey Robinson will be taking on executive music producer duties. The first-season soundtrack of songs covered by contemporary artists will be released on Melodia/Motown Records and will coincide with the as-yet-unannounced debut of the show.
