Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a post Friday (November 18th) that the social media giant is taking new steps to combat fake news stories on the site, which some critics have suggested could have helped Donald Trump win the election. The measures include developing new tools to detect and classify misinformation, making it easier for users to report the fake material, and possibly working with established fact-checking organizations to evaluate content. Zuckerberg said they are also considering warning labels for stories flagged as false. Earlier last week, Facebook clarified that it won’t display ads for sites that run information that is misleading or deceptive, including fake news, which cuts revenue for those sites.
