Media reports yesterday (January 10th) said that President-elect Donald Trump and President Obama were both briefed by top intelligence officials last week about a still-unsubstantiated report that Russia has compromising personal and financial information about Trump.
A summary of the allegations was separate from the classified assessment they were also given about Russia’s attempts to influence the presidential election. Soon after the news broke, Trump tweeted:
“FAKE NEWS – A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!”
The unsubstantiated report on Trump was compiled by a former Western intelligence operative, reportedly someone who’d worked for British intelligence, as part of an opposition research project originally financed by a Republican Trump opponent, and later by Democrats. The operative reportedly turned the information over to the FBI, and the report was circulating in Washington for months.
WOW! He still doesn’t believe it, even when Russia compromised and got some of his personal and financial information? SMH. What a f-ing yahoo!
