Wanda Sykes, the comedian who also doubles as the consulting producer for Roseanne took to Twitter to reveal that she was not coming back to the show. Her reason? Roseanne Barr‘s racially tinged tweet towards Valerie Jarrett, former aide to President Barack Obama.
“muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr wrote on Twitter late Monday night. She’s since deleted the tweet and quit the social media platform.
Following Barr’s tweet, Sykes pulled out of the ABC show which was renewed for a second season after huge ratings earlier this year.
“I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC,” Sykes said. She also responded to a media report saying that she was the show’s head writer. “Fake News…I was never the head writer. I was a ‘Consulting Producer.’”
