Last month SZA stopped touring because she allegedly was suffering from swollen vocal chords. The singer even tweeted that she may have suffered permanent damage to her vocal chords. Well it appears she’s on the mend as SZA did an impromptu performance of her single, “Weekend,” on Monday, June 4th. SZA’s performance was during her induction into the Columbia High School Hall of Fame in New Jersey. Lauryn Hill is also a member of the high school’s Hall of Fame.
- During her acceptance speech, SZA said, “It starts with compassion . . . It starts with trusting yourself even when people are telling you you’re too young to trust yourself. My mom used to say idle eyes is the devil’s playground, but I disagree. It’s where you find the details of the inner workings of yourself and figure out what you actually want to do. Daydreaming is actually where this whole thing starts.”
- In high school, SZA was on the varsity cheerleading team and the gymnastic team.
