With the passing of civil rights icon John Lewis this past summer, the world needed to involve itself in a little “good trouble.” Earlier this year, director Dawn Porter helped put together a documentary about Lewis’ life and legacy and her well-received doc became required viewing for 2020.
Porter talks to AV from the Houston BMW Studios to discuss her connection to Lewis, her prior work involving Bobby Kennedy and how he was influenced by Black people, the impact of the documentary and what she feels describes “good trouble.”
