A nearby gas spill this morning from an overturned tanker truck will aggravate the normally congested rush hour traffic at the West Loop and Bellaire.
Add to that the traffic from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and “it’s the perfect storm,” said Dinah Massie at Houston TranStar.
At 5 p.m., Massie said the cleanup could take several more hours. The mainlanes of the 610 Loop at Bellaire will remain closed.
The wreck was reported on the feeder around 11 a.m. at Bellaire Boulevard, according to Houston TranStar. As the cleanup continued around midday, police opted to divert all southbound traffic at Fournace and all northbound traffic at Evergreen.
Bellaire Boulevard also is closed in the area.
No injuries were reported, and no other information was immediately available.
