HOUSTON — An arrest has been made in connection with the Heights-area serial arsonist investigation, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.

Houston Fire Department officials said David Joseph Prince was arrested on Friday and charged with one count of state arson charges.

He has been accused of setting the fire at 807 W. 12th on Sept. 17.

“Because this is an ongoing and active investigation involving other fires, no further information will be released,” according to a HFD news release.

Fire officials said Prince’s photo will not be released until next week.

According to public records, Prince has a criminal history including theft and drug charges.

Eighteen suspicious fires have been set in the Heights since August. Investigators said 14 are connected. The rest are under investigation. Most of them occurred at vacant homes.

 No injuries have been reported.

A multi-agency task force, consisting of the Houston Fire Department Arson Bureau, the Houston Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, conducted the investigation.
