Forecasters expect an unusually balmy couple of days to turn unseasonably cold overnight, bringing rain for the first half of the week.

Sunday’s forecast high of 76 degrees was well above the normal temperature of 68 degrees for the day, but still shy of the record high of 83 degrees in 2006.

A meteorologist with the National Weather Service said a cold front was expected to move through tonight, lowering the temperature to the mid-50s, where it will remain throughout the day on Monday.

Toward the end of the week, the temperatures should return to the 60s and the weather should clear, he said. Lows are likely to be in the 40s, with no sign of the season’s first freeze on the horizon.
