According to reports, two pilots assigned to Fort Bragg have been killed when their helicopter crashed in Afghanistan.

Officials at Fort Bragg stated that 28-year-old Chief Warrant Officer Thalia Ramirez, of San Antonio, and 31-year-old Chief Warrant Officer Jose Montenegro Jr., of Houston, were killed in the crash September 5th.

Both soldiers were assigned to the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.

According to Fort Bragg officials, their OH-58D Kiowa Warrior aircraft descended in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

Montenegro joined the Army in 2001 and was on his third deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Ramirez had joined the Army in 2003 and was on her second deployment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the aircraft crash.
