The Republicans want to see the U.S. fail.  According to Pulse of Radio,

The U.S. moved closer to the possibility of defaulting on its debt for the first time ever on Sunday (October 6th), with House Speaker John Boehner saying he won’t allow a vote on raising the debt ceiling without getting concessions from President Obama. That came as the government shutdown readied to entered its seventh day on Monday. Boehner insisted that Obama must negotiate with House Republicans to end the shutdown and avert a default that economists warn could trigger a global financial crisis that could be as bad or worse that the recent Great Recession. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has warned that the U.S. will run out of moneyto pay its debts on October 17th if the debt ceiling isn’t raised. In an Associated Press interview on Friday, Obama repeated that he would not negotiate over the debt ceiling, saying, “We can’t establish a pattern where one faction of one party that controls one chamber in one branch of government can basically hold its breath and say, unless we get 100 percent of our way, then we’re going to let the entire economy collapse, the entire economy shut down.”

If this happens it will mess up the world economy.  Let’s pray they get it together.
