(HOUSTON) — Houston realtors are rejoicing over last month’s record sales numbers.
“Houston home sellers are not letting a dearth of supply kill momentum, posting a 34th month of sales gains in March,” said Chaille Ralph, chair of the Houston Association of Realtors.

HAR is reporting home sales last month rising 3.7 percent to 5,971 single-family homes sold, with a record-low of 2.6 months of inventory on hand.
“Inventory has remained steady at 2.6-months since December,” Ralph said. “You know, we haven’t seen a decrease in the last four months, but obviously we’re holding tight at that 2.6 months of inventory.”
The average sales price increased 11 percent to $261,329, and the median sale price climbed 9.8 percent to $189,900.
“We are continuing to see most of our growth in the high-end market,” Ralph said.
HAR expects April numbers to be good, too, based on pending home sales figures.
