Busted: Infamous Butt Injection Artist Convicted Of Third-Degree Murder
Padge-Victoria Windslowe, also known as the ‘Black Madam’ is headed towards the Litchfield life. Windslowe is facing 10 to 20 years for performing at-home lethal butt injections in Philadelphia. One of her clients, Claudia Aderotimi, a dancer from London, died promptly after receiving her services back in 2011. Windslowe struck a vein during the procedure and her cheap silicone spread to Aderotimi’s lungs, obstructing her breath. This development comes just a week after another woman, BET employee Kelly Mayhew, died in the basement of a Queens home after receiving botched butt injections from an unlicensed practitioner. Media Giant Rupert Murdoch Resigns From 21st Century Fox
It’s definitely a different era in the media business now. One of the industry’s most influential and controversial executives, 84-year-old Rupert Murdoch, is stepping down as CEO of 21st Century Fox. Now, Murdoch is appointing his son, James Murdoch, to take over the reigns while Murdoch coasts in the backseat as executive chairman. 21st Century Fox is the parent company for the 20th Century Fox film studio, the Fox TV network, Fox News Channel, NewsCorp, Start TV and Sky TV. Revolving Door: Dick Costolo Bows Out As CEO Of Twitter
Murdoch isn’t the only one who’s making waves in the media business by stepping down from his job today. Last night, Dick Costolo was trending on Twitter when he announced that would be forfeiting his role as CEO of the company. Costolo is leaving voluntarily after failing to garner new users and more ad revenue for the micro-blogging service. Read more at CNN Money.
Boko Haram Still Terrorizing People, Destroys More Villages In Nigeria
The Boko Haram still ain’t tired yet, y’all. On Wednesday night, the terrorist group burned down six villages in Nigeria’s northeast region by the Sambisa Forest. It’s reported that 37 were killed. Those attacked are now refugees again after the Nigerian army had previously shut the Boko Haram out of the region. However the group denies that they have been occupying areas surrounding the forest, responding that they’re based in townships hundreds of miles away. Read more at the Huffington Post.
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back: Obama’s Expanding Military Presence Again To Fight Islamic State
The White House has announced that Obama’s looking to open up a new network of military bases in Iraq to fight the Islamic State. The President wants to create outposts where army officials can work with local troops and tribesmen—but not engage in combat. This announcement comes a day after Obama informed the public of a new base in Anbar Province with 450 more troops to stand off against the Islamic State. Critics are giving Obama some side-eye on these developments; he made a huge effort to pull all forces out of the region in 2011 and his latest decisions could put American troops at risk of another gruesome and futile campaign.
Today’s especially heated today for Obama. The House is about to vote on whether or not it will pass his Pacific Trade Deal, something his own party has staunchly opposed. Time will tell if Obama and House Republicans were able to convince the Democrats if the trade deal will boost the economy without infringing upon workers’ rights or other vital resources like Medicare.
