Thomas’s mom was arrested when he was just 11 year old. Mrs. Smith was released from prison after a 20-year sentence for drug trafficking was commuted by President Obama over the summer. After a stint in a Georgia halfway house, her travel restrictions have been lifted. And now Thomas is trying to get her to Denver in time for Sunday’s game.
