A 35-year-old former Marine was killed Monday as he attempted to make a citizen’s arrest on a young soldier who shot and wounded his wife outside a Dallas Walgreens.
Anthony “T.J.” Antell Jr. confronted Ricci Bradden after he witnessed the 22-year-old Army private shoot at his own wife’s feet during an argument, the Associated Press reports. Antell grabbed a handgun from his vehicle, but Bradden slapped it away. He then fatally shot the Good Samaritan.
Antell’s spouse, who was also on the scene, witnessed the fatal altercation. Bradden fled the scene, but later turned himself into authorities after confessing to his commanders at Fort Hood.

Bradden’s wife, Quinisha Johnson, told WFAA on Tuesday that he came to the store because he was upset by a selfie she posted on social media that he thought made it seem she was seeking attention.
“And I was trying to explain it to him, that I married you. You’re all the attention that I needed,” she told the station. “And I could feel that he was getting mad, so I tried to walk off, and that’s when I heard him pull the gun out.”
The couple had only been married about two months.
Bradden is being held at the Arlington jail on a murder charge. An investigation continues.
