According to Pulse of Radio,

A new study out yesterday (December 5th) found that even smoking just one cigarette a day, which some people believe they can do without much harm, can significantly increase the chances of early death. National Cancer Institute researchers found that people who smoked up to one cigarette a day have a 64 percent higher risk of early death compared to people who’d never smoked, and the risk was 87 percent higher for those who smoked between one and 10 cigarettes a day. Looking specifically at lung cancer, people who smoked up to one cigarette a day were nine times more likely to die of lung cancer than those who’d never smoked, with the risk 12 times greater for those who smoked between one and 10 cigarettes a day.
