A downtown Atlanta building has been evacuated due to a possible grenade was found on Tuesday morning. People were seen filing out of the Peachtree Summit Federal Building on West Peachtree Street just before noon.
An official for the Atlanta Police Department told FOX 5 that the building was evacuated due to a possible grenade that was found. Officials say a suspicious package was received in the mailroom, and it was x-rayed. They say something inside the package caused concern, and that led to the evacuation.
Early reports from the scene indicated that a grenade was found, but police later told FOX 5 they could not confirm that the suspicious package was a grenade for sure.
Homeland Security is at the scene assisting Atlanta Police in the investigation.
