Ingredients
- Butter, for greasing pan and ramekins
- 1½ cups sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch ground nutmeg
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups New Orleans French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (see note)
- 1/3 cup raisins
- 9 large egg whites, at room temperature
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
- Whiskey Sauce, recipe follows
