How can you talk about the history of this country and not talk about the atrocity of slavery and its role in racism? As soon as this fall, new Texas history books will barely include the Ku Klux Klan, Jim Crow and slavery but do so in a way that teaches that the Civil War wasn’t about slavery, but more about sectionalism, and state’s rights and that slavery was more of a side note. What a crock of bull! To negate the horror and evil of slavery as the catalyst of the Civil War back in the 1800’s and of the racism that still exists to this day, is to do a disservice to future generations. This country has a huge problem with racism and we will never heal if we act like it never happened. Click here to read more.
