Paris Jackson Responds to Backlash Over Death Anniversary Performance

Paris Jackson has a message for anyone questioning how she’s choosing to spend one of the hardest days of her life: mind your business.
The singer and daughter of the late Michael Jackson is pushing back after some fans criticized her for performing on June 25th, the date marking 15 years since her MJ’s death. That date happens to fall during her tour with rock band Incubus and the Manchester Orchestra.

In a now-expired Instagram Story posted June 13th, Paris didn’t hold back.
According to E!, she wrote:
“So, people are mad again… One of the tour dates I’m supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.”
She went on to explain the reality of touring as a supporting act. “What I guess I have to explain to these people is that when you’re not headlining these shows, you don’t pick what date you perform,” she said, adding, “So [what], I’m gonna tell ’em, ‘Sorry, guys, we can’t perform on this date?’”
Paris ended the statement with a blunt closer: “F**k you.”
This isn’t the first time she’s had to defend how she grieves publicly. Back in August 2023, when fans noticed she hadn’t posted anything for Michael’s 65th birthday, she shared a video explaining why.
“Back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday,” she said. “He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to throw a party or anything like that.”

Still, she paid tribute to her dad in her own way, using the stage to honor his legacy during her show with Incubus that night. “He put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did,” she told the crowd, “so I could stand up here on stage, in front of you, and scream into a microphone. So I owe everything to him.”
Paris (27) is one of three children Michael Jackson had with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, alongside Prince (28) and Bigi a.k.a. Blanket (22). She’s currently engaged to songwriter Justin Long.
