The Texas House County Affairs Committee has reportedly laid the groundwork for a new piece of legislation that would be known as the Sandra Bland Act.

The family reached a settlement with Waller County for Sandra Bland's wrongful death, which includes an agreement on procedural changes.

Bland was found dead in her jail cell after being pulled over by State Trooper Brian Encinia for a routine traffic stop last July.
